Making a Difference At Home

Across the country, staff groups participate in a wide range of activities that contribute to the betterment of their communities in hundreds of ways, big and small. You’ll be encouraged to volunteer in groups and as an individual, and you’ll have a lot of fun while contributing to causes close to your heart.

Paid Days to Volunteer

You’ll receive up to two paid volunteer days per year to spend giving your time to your favourite local causes.

Directed Donations Program

When you participate in our Directed Donations program each year, the company will donate up to $75 on your behalf to the charity of your choice. Each year over three quarters of our staff participate, resulting in total donations of over $250,000 to numerous organizations across the country.

Volunteers in Action

A grassroots, staff-led volunteer program, Volunteers in Action has thriving groups located across the country. You can join staff groups to participate in many different activities that contribute to the betterment of your community. An internal website gives you access to volunteer information and opportunities in your community, and lets you see what your colleagues in other communities are doing.

Buckle Up Bears

Become one of 310 certified staff volunteers and community partners to operate our Buckle Up Bears Car Seat Clinics, where you can help parents protect their children by inspecting their car seats to ensure proper installation.

Business Block Parent Program

We work with the Block Parent Program to create safe havens in concentrated business sections of several urban communities. Over 40% of our agency offices are registered as Business Block Parents.

United Way

The United Way funds vital community projects and programs, and its annual campaigns contribute significantly to community well being across Canada. Co-operators staff demonstrate that they value this work in their communities by contributing and raising record amounts of money for United Way chapters across the country, through staff-led office campaigns, pledges and participation in a variety of special events.
