A Better Community
An agent can make a difference in the community. I’m thinking of a couple of ways. One, primarily as a role as a multi-line exclusive agent with
I think on the other side though, as an agent and an independent owner, we also have some flexibility in our time to know that if I wanted to help in the community myself, and make a difference, I can do that. I can take the time off to do that, or I could allow the staff to take time to do something that’s important to them.
I am personally involved in my local churches. I’m mostly involved in our local community groups and I think a majority of agents are, because it’s a sense of giving back to the community which has given so much to us.
Mainly I’m involved with Peel Car Seat Safety Committee. It’s a committee that deals with car seats and making sure that parents are informed of how to install their car seats. I’ve been involved with this for twelve or thirteen years. It goes hand in hand with a program

Where I choose to get involved is in the lives of the families in the area that I work in here. Whether that be sponsoring a hockey team, baseball team—we work with some of the family services around the area here. They get to know us and we walk around our streets and they recognize us. We’re driving down the streets and they recognize, “Oh there’s Chris from The Co-operators.” It’s a great thing.

It really makes me feel good that I’m known in the community. It makes me feel good because I know I’ve done my part.
